Understanding the Cutting Methods: Die Cut vs ‘Kiss’ or Standard Cut
At AAC, we offer two cutting methods for our custom printed vinyl stickers: Die Cut and Kiss Cut. Understanding these methods can help you choose the right type of sticker for your needs.
Die Cut: Supplied Individually
With our die cutting method, we digitally die cut the stickers using a flatbed cutting table. This allows us to cut any size and shape quickly and cost-effectively, as we don’t have to create physical dies. The stickers are cut all the way through the vinyl sticker and the backing paper, resulting in individual stickers.
Once cut, the stickers are wrapped or shrink-wrapped (depending on the size), and placed into a cardboard box to protect them from damage during delivery. When you’re ready to use the stickers, simply pick up one edge of the vinyl sticker and peel it off the backing paper. You’re now ready to stick it onto any flat smooth surface.
‘Kiss’ or Standard Cut: Supplied on Sheets
Our standard cutting (aka “Kiss” cut) method involves cutting the stickers to shape, but only through the vinyl sticker and not the backing paper. This leaves all the printed and cut vinyl on a large sheet of backing paper. We then remove all the excess vinyl around the cut stickers so just the cut shape of the stickers is left on the large sheet of backing paper.
The large sheet of stickers is then cut down to man sheets to fit our shipping boxes. When you receive the stickers and are ready to use them, simply peel each sticker off the sheet of backing paper. This method is particularly useful if you will be applying the stickers one after the other, as you can peel them off the sheet of backing paper faster, and you only have to handle the larger sheets.
